Climate is a big issue today and we can do things ourselves to make less impact on the climate. One thing we can do is eat climate-smart, and we can do that in a lot of ways. It is only a matter of adapting our food to the course of nature and, among other things, eating according to seasons, eating more organically and by buying more locally produced foods in order to reduce emissions by not having to travel the food any longer.

Organic products have followed many more climate regulations than other products. Locally produced is good in many other aspects but for the climate, it is not always better. However, it is easier to check the production of something from close up.

EAT SEASONALLY AND DISPOSE LESS FOOD

When you start to think about eating climate-smart, you might switch to a more vegetarian diet, and then it is good to buy fruits and vegetables that are adapted to the season we are in. For locally produced fruit or vegetables naturally have less climate impact than those that have been imported from far away. Make sure you buy seasonally the fruits and vegetables that are produced in your country.

A big climate issue nowadays is food waste, we throw an incredible amount of food every year. There are many things you can do to influence this, for example by planning your purchases, making food bills and shopping just what you need. Store the goods correctly so that they last as long as possible, and remember that a passed best before date does not mean that something is inedible but use your senses as the smell and the sight. Another tip is to make new dishes of your leftovers.
